“What we’ve achieved at Innovation Group is truly disruptive,” reflects Group Chief Technology Officer James Coggin. “Our acquisition by one of the world’s largest insurance companies validated the strategy we pursued with our Gateway platform. We put the platform at the heart of an ecosystem of insurers, service providers and their customers. It has proved to be a powerful approach.”
Transforming the insurance market
Innovation Group is transforming the insurance market with its pioneering digital claims management platform, Gateway. This has been successfully launched in Germany. The platform enables largely automated claims management through a sophisticated, software platform. Gateway features an intuitive user interface masking a complex InsurTech ecosystem which connects all relevant participants in the claims process. This includes data providers, estimation platforms, bodyshop systems, insurers, service providers and others. With Gateway, Innovation Group has developed a comprehensive solution for claims managers that provides the key to the digital transformation of insurance claims.
“We’ve been on a journey to build out the platform while also completing the overall modernisation of the business,” continues Coggin. “On the software side, Gateway has proved to be commercially scalable. We’ve processed over €1 billion of repair value and 450,000 orders on the platform in Germany, across over 60 insurance brands. It’s been satisfying to see the positive impact of our transformation program and build a product our clients and their customers want.”
Gateway Going Global
Innovation Group has a strong presence in Europe but also in the US, South Africa and Australia. “We are aiming to roll out Gateway globally,” confirms Coggin. “We have a range of opportunities so we’re looking at how we scale across different continents and approach the expansion with the right MVP mindset. Historically we have taken an approach where we quickly test and learn with new launches, use proof of concepts and MVPs, and build from there. We have a mature motor repair product, and we recently launched our new fleet repair product. We are also working on an offering for OEMs and car manufacturers.
“Ultimately, we want to scale both horizontally in terms of our product suite, and vertically with regard to other regions. We need to fill in that matrix and do that in the most effective way. Requirements across regions will overlap heavily with new product requirements, so we are always looking at the most effective route to build out the platform.”
